About Us
Tomoka Heights Home Owners Association is the heart of the 55+ age community in Lake Placid. We aim to keep residents informed and connected by providing essential updates and information. As the trusted HOA for the Tomoka Heights gated community, we prioritize serving our homeowners and retirees.
Tomoka Heights Community Description
Tomoka Heights is a self-managed, 55+, gated, private community located in Highlands County near Lake Placid, Florida. The community consists of 374 single family homes configured as single family, duplex, triplex and fourplex residences. Many single-family residences and all multi-family properties are located in maintained areas where lawn services and irrigation are supplied through monthly association dues.
Municipal water and sewer services are provided through the Town of Lake Placid. Homeowners pay only Highlands County Taxes and fees to the Town of Lake Placid for Water and Sewer services.
Membership in our community comes with a variety of benefits, including access to our pool, bocce ball, and tennis/pickleball courts, as well as exclusive invitations to community events and volunteer opportunities.
We rely on our volunteers to minimize the costs of community operations and maintenance. Volunteers also help to organize events, maintain our community spaces, and serve on our board of directors. Volunteering is a great way to get involved and make a positive impact in our neighborhood.
History
In the 1940’s the land we know as Tomoka Heights was a golf course beside Lake Henry. In the early 1980’s Consolidated Tomoka Development Corporation of Florida bought this land. In January of 1983 the Articles of Incorporation were written for the planned HOA. Since then, we have grown to 374 homes and continue to thrive as a close-knit community. The land was developed in phases beginning in 1983 through present day construction, with the most recent single-family home constructed in 2025.
Our Board of Directors
The five members of the Board of Directors (BOD) must be Owners in the community. Each member of the BOD is elected for a three-year term. The directorship tenures are staggered over a 5-year period in a 2-member, 2-member, 1-member election configuration.
